For the dreamers. The readers. And the character creators.

Welcome.

Last September, I wrote a poem about Autumn and friendships, titled Shifting. It was during a time where I wasn’t really happy with life, and my friendships were pretty rocky. This year, I decided to write a second part of Shifting, based on my life now. Enjoy ❤

Last September

I wrote about warmth.

I wrote about wind.

I wrote about falling,

failing.

I wrote about those sweet summer days

where all your cares flew with the wind

and all you cared about was the flush on your cheeks

and the breeze through your hair

and the laughter filled

starry nights

I wrote about those wild August days

when one day it’s 100 degrees and your heart

your life

your happiness

is ablaze with hope

and then you turn around

and everyone’s bundled in scarves

and thick black coats

and everything covered in ice

and you keep

slipping up

I wrote about those chilly September days

watching tornadoes of leaves

swirls of fading color

those stabs of winter wind

making your blood run cold

and your heart run colder

I needed a thicker coat.

I’m writing about these seasons,

and thinking about September.

Thinking about that warmth, thinking

about how I felt last year.

last year the wind blew blades

last year I could barely breathe

last year they were busy and I was burying

myself

Now it’s December. Now it’s this year, and I’m sitting here

writing

thinking.

I still have my thick winter coat

but I no longer need a scarf.

Last year’s leaves are crackling beneath my boots

and new blooms are sparking in my heart
